An indigenous leader and one of his co-workers are the latest victims of political violence in Colombia. The bodies of Mario Jacanamaijoy and Dubier Prieto Coro were found together in the zone of Belén de los Andaquíes, department of Caqueta.

According to the National Organisation of Indigenous Peoples of the Colombian Amazon (OPIAC), Mario, a leader in the Tandachiridu Inganokuna indigenous organisation, had been tortured. Both men had been shot.

The OPIAC says that '182 indigenous and social leaders have been violently silenced this year for defending their territories and the life of their communities'.
