Another demobilising FARC member murdered

News from Colombia | on: Wednesday, 16 August 2017

Jesus Adan Mazo who was taking part in the FARC demobilisation process was murdered on Monday 14th August. Jesus Adan Mazo was an ex-Commander of the Militias in Ituango, North Antioquia.

According to reports armed men smashed down his door, dragged him into the street, and shot him three times.

As he was a ex-militia and not an ex-combatant he was engaging in the demobilisation process from outside the transitory zones. He is the second demobilising militia member to be killed in the region after the murder of Juan Fernando Amaya, on 12 July 2017.

Local residents have reported the growing presence of paramiltaries in the region, particularly in area now left by the FARC.
