Huber Ballesteros receives even more death threats

News from Colombia | on: Tuesday, 13 June 2017

Only days after the latest threats, the trade union leader Huber Ballesteros has received yet more threats. On Sunday 11th June a message was sent via whatsapp to Huber from the paramilitary organisation the AUC. In it he was warned that they were fed up of his left-wing ideals and his work with local communities. The message started with the phrase from a song "where do the dead go" and was also accompanied by an image of Huber's daughter and a young activist Mayerli Hurtado Motta. Both are members of the Patriotic March in Cauca.

This is now the fourth threat Huber has received since he was released from prison in January.
