Colombian Oil Workers’ Union (USO) has denounced threats and harassment of paramilitary groups against their members.
USO is extremely concerned about the high rate of assassinations of social leaders and community activists in Colombia. “Affiliates, activists and leaders of USO are suffering constant attacks and threats against our lives.”
The outlandish government claims that the killings are not systematic and not politically motivated was rejected by USO who point out that there is a clear pattern whereby those involved in community or trade union activism are targeted.
