Ceasefire agreed to put an end to the Colombian war

Today, Thursday 23 June 2016, President Santos will travel to Havana to sign the agreement which will confirm the bilateral and definitive ceasefire between the Colombian state and the FARC-EP. After being at war since 1964 the moment is being hailed as the end of the Colombian war.

Five Presidents and the UN Secretary General will be present at the signing where President Santos and Timochenko, the leader of the FARC-EP, are expected to once again shake hands.

Negotiations will still continue on the final points of the agenda which include the details of the demobilisation process and how to ratify the final peace agreement.
