FENSUAGRO Thanks JFC Members

News from Colombia | on: Thursday, 16 February 2012

FENSUAGRO, the Colombian agricultural workers' union and sister union of Unite and USW, has written to Justice for Colombia to thank our members for their work in highlighting the human rights abuses in Colombia, and for the work JFC carries out in favour of their affiliates.

FENSUAGRO has had over a thousand members killed in recent years, and agricultural workers are among those most heavily targeted by paramilitaries and the armed forces. The most recent killing was carried out by army troops who tortured and killed a peasant trade unionist in Sumapaz, just south of Bogota.

The letter states that JFC's support helps "inspire us to continue with our work, and give us the confidence that we are not alone in our difficult struggle"
