Jose Manuel Espinosa Pachon, the President of SINTRAFEC coffee workers’ union in Chinchina has reported phone threats and threats delivered by leaflet. Mr Espinosa is also a member of the CPDH human rights organisation. The latest threats were reported to the authorities, but so far no action has been taken.
On September 1st Mr Espinosa’s daughter received a call while he was at work. The caller told her to “tell that son of a whore that we’re going to break him; that he should look after himself and leave that disgusting trade union.” On the 3rd of September Mr Espinosa requested that the State provide him with protection measures, but these have so far not received any response.
